The story of Timex-Kelton starts even before the construction of the plant in 1962. It was in 1956 that the Americans decide to invest the French market of watch which was undisputed capital Besançon. The Timex Group then buys more than 12 hectares of virgin land between the current Trépillots and Kennedy Boulevard. And that's what built in 1962 the first factory. "Between 1962 and 1970 seven buildings will be built in continuity, as and when required for production." The Timex Group creates the brand Kelton early sixties and launches its unique distribution channel in tobacco shops to short-circuit the watchmakers with which the mark was in conflict. This is the beginning of glory for this class of entry-watches. Kelton flow in millions of copies worldwide. The arrival of quartz mark here as the beginning of the decline for the Besançon factory.
